@RedCeltYank1 ....Couldn't have said it better myself.

@chowman007 Really? So this doesn't happen in CCM? People don't have favorite soloists? Favorite bands? No. This isn't where SGM fails. It's actually where it succeeds. When the audience is able to make a connection with a singer, they are more apt to listen to the music. I'm speaking from experience. Sorry. But I have to disagree with you.

Awesome....great song, and great blend. Love this combination of the Cathedrals. I wish they had filmed the Live in Atlanta record......which is their best live album, in my opinion. There is a brightness/brilliance to their sound, and the song kind of pops...nobody did it better.

this is awesome with just a piano and vocals--no drums, no guitars, but a very simple and solid melody.
-
This is where SGM fails. Emphasis on who's better instead of who they r singing about. Listen, apples come in different types, gala, fuji, macintosh, etc...just enjoy it.

These things are always subjective. David Phelps is an awesome tenor and is very technically sound with MAJOR range. So is Jay Parrack. Many times he has dazzled us without any effort. But what are you looking for in a tenor? Danny Funderburk had more feeling and emotion when he sang and NO ONE had the range to go with the "SOUL" factor like Rosie Rozell of the Statesmen. Watch some of their videos, especially "Sweeter As the Days Go By". Reply back, if you would like, after watching that one.
-
I'm sorry, sir, but you are incorrect. I guarantee you..Jay Parrack, Eric Phillips, David Peace, and every other tenor in Gospel Music would disagree with you. David Phelps is without question the most technically sound natural voice tenor in the history of Gospel Music. Those guys dream of being able to do what he does, effortlessly at that.

larry is on alot of the dixie echoes qrts in the late 60s. use to love dale shelnut . i think i loved george, dale as much for their personality as their singing. in fact i think personality is a big part of a singers package.

Absolutely. Larry is fantastic. I tend to forget about him because I never see him except a Gaither vid.
Nice video.

Thanks. Your old SG videos are what inspired me to upload mine.

Hey, man, keep these coming! I used to have this record album around somewhere. Is there more to this video?

I'm working on coverting several old VHS tapes of gospel music TV shows to DVD. The quality is bad because I was a college student at the time and wanted to maximize the use of the videotape, so I used the 6-hr setting.
I'm sure there is more from the Cathedrals, either on this tape or one of the others that I'll get to eventually.

Do you have any with Matt Taunton??? singing with the Cathedral's??? This is very good what you are doing. It brings back a lot of memories and good gospel music. Do you have any of the Kingsmen??? and the McKamey's that were also on Gospel Jublee. Thanks for posting your video's.

I don't have any of the Cats with Taunton, sorry. I have some Kingsmen videos, but they aren't as old as this. I may have one or two stray "older" Kingsmen songs but I haven't found the VHS tape with them yet, if I even have any. I don't have any of the McKamey's.
