Unreal Tournament III (PS3) Online TDM Gameplay (Shangri La)

I was feeling too lazy to hook up my keyboard and mouse for this game, so I'm showing a controller-only (you have the option to allow KB and Mouse or not) online Team Deathmatch for the PS3 version of Unreal Tournament III. The map is Shangri La. This is an awesome game online or off.

The PC version is, no doubt, the best version of the game, but the PS3 port of UTIII is really the first console game that ever comes close to being nearly on par with the PC original, and believe me, that's saying a lot. It has keyboard and mouse support, but more importantly, it is the first console game to ever have official Mod support.

This game is old school in play. That means fast-paced, hectic battles that are balls-out. No sissy hiding or camping. The last thing you want to do is stand still in this game. If you want to experience the style of online play (mixed with elements of Tribes of course) that Halo took from, but then made slower, and less fun, then look no further than UTIII. This is a manly man's game.

I don't play online gaming much anymore, but this is definitely one I'll be playing more online. It's just a blast to play.

NOTE: As per usual, the PS3 doesn't like my capture card, so the quality is a little blurrier than usual.

NOTE number 2: This game needs more people playing it online, so if you're in a store, and see this game, pick it up, or if you already own it, try visiting it more from time to time.

@PhoenixXxGermanxXx This is the one Console game that the typical PC fanboy stupidity doesn't really apply to. "Keyboard and mouse is teh bestus!" The PS3 version supports keyboard and mouse I'm not using it here, because you can run games with or without it. "Teh PC is teh bezt cuz of mawds!" The PS3 version of UT3 supports mods. The only thing the PC version does better is it runs faster, but there is a mod that lets the PS3 version run at 60 FPS. Overall the PC version is only a little better

@hl202 I didn't grow up as a PC gamer, so I missed a lot of games including the UT series, but my favorite Unreal game is the original Unread, and not an UT game. I used to play it online coop all the time as well (I had 56Krap at the time, and coop was the easiest for me to play at that connection speed).

@dave4shmups There is only one UT game on the PS2, and it's a decent port. It's best for bot matches. I personally prefer Timesplitters for bot match, but UT still worth the $5 at gamestop. Timesplitters is great, but sometimes you want a change of pace, and UT is great for that.

I wish more people played this online. It's the most fun I've had playing online on a console. The story mode isn't exactly great, but the online is awesome. It's a pure adrenaline rush and it's perfectly balanced. Hell, it's even really, really cheap as well.

Of course, UT3 is largely ignored by PS3 gamers. Perhaps that's because UT is more of a PC series. That's a shame, because they're missing out on some excellent arcade action here.

@sean007s I am also a huge fan of bot multiplayer in shooters, and this is the first ps3 game I have played that actually has a well made replayable bot multiplayer. I own The Darkness, Call of Duty 4 , Call of Duty World at War, Killzone 2, Red Faction: Guerrilla, and rainbow six vegas. Out of those only Killzone has offline bots, but that mode is such a half assed thing (no split screen, virtually no customization of the settings) that's basically worthless. All the other games have no bots.

@Lazyhoboguy The sniper in UT is essentially their version of the rail gun in Quake. Once you realize that, there's no reason to zoom in, just no-scope with it, because that's what it's meant for. it takes too long to zoom in and standing still will get you killed really fast.

@0xF33D You have to option to use either game pad or kb/mouse combo. I'll probably post a vid later of me sucking with mouse aim later. The customization of the game means that you can make it so everyone in the match has to use a controller. You can also turn on the ability to use kb/mouse as well, so you can keep things on level ground. Just don't go into a game that allows the mouse using a controller.
