This is the video to our song "A beach, a flag, a doctrine". You can download the song for free from http://www.hremig.com as part of the 'A Watch Means Conditions Are Favourable' EP.

The video is shoddy to say the least. I had never before attempted Stop Motion animation so I downloaded a program and went about it. Regrettably I was not thinking things through. Here are some pointers for those who try similar:

1) Make your scenary stable.
2) Only use Lego characters with Lego scenary because otherwise you have to use loads of sticky tape to try to get them to walk anywhere
3) Always use the same lighting regardless of when you film
4) Only use a good tripod and don't ever ever accidentally jog it.
5) Know exactly what you'll be filming so you make your scenary up to the job.
6) Know exactly what you'll be filming so you don't end up having to 'wing it' midway through.

Watch this video and you'll see I come a cropper on this many many many times. Whoops!

  • @KryssLaBryn Thanks. The panning's really just a question of moving the camera tripod a little as well as moving the pieces. It allowed me to cover up moments when actually the set was so wonky and unsteady that it barely stayed the same from shot to shot!

  • Nice work! I'm particularly impressed with the panning while the guys are moving. That must have been tricky to shoot. Well done!

  • Stop Motion Maker, the basic version, for the creation. I used a Sony camcorder as the camera device via USB. And then I put it together using Windows Movie Maker.

  • Awesome.

  • best lego ever m,ade 10000000000000000000/1

  • A great little video!

  • good god theo, this is fantastic. the video must have taken absolutely days to do though.

  • Great work!

What is this trying to say?

Are you siding with Rousseau's European Gentleman over the noble savage?

    Colonisation is so last millenium!

  • Sterling work Theo.

  • What the fuck is this shit?
