Profile video on prisoner of conscience Raul Hernandez.

Raúl Hernández is a human rights defender from Ayutla, Guerrero state. As part of the Me phaa Indigenous Peoples Organization (Organización del Pueblo Indígena Me phaa, OPIM) he has been campaigning for the respect of the rights of local Indigenous peoples.

On 17 April 2008, he was detained along with four other members of OPIM. All were charged with murder. Amnesty International believes that these activists were arrested and charged on the basis of flawed evidence in order to deter them from actively promoting human rights and denouncing abuses against local indigenous communities.

In March 2009, four of them were released, but Raúl continues in detention. He has now been locked up in prison for almost two years for a crime he did not commit.

  • In the state of Guerrero Mexico there is a problem with justice. Why is in prison el comandante de la comunitary police Raul Hernandez? That police is doing a good job in transforming real criminals in good people. But that is surely is not the best interest of The governor Zeferino Torreblanca Galindo.

  • We gotta do something this april 17!!! it is enough!!! For Raul and for all the memberd of the OPIM!!!! Freedom!!!
