@PGTRegard Oh, you know when you make the gun go bang. You just make sure and focus so hard on the sight picture that it surprises you. His training stills holds true today, just the same as the 1911 holding true as the best defense handgun.
-
@DOGLUV007 Of course, but to me that is a beginners technique. If your going to use your gun for defensive use then you need to know exactly when the trigger is going to break.
LIke I said I like Jeff Cooper because he evolved the handgun shooting world into a much better place, but it has since evolved and become even better.

Every time I followed and used this wonderful teaching. My bullets struct the target perfectly and every time!!!
-
@PGTRegard The object of the surprise break is to "NOT" upset the sight picture! That way the bullets always go exactly where you placed the front sight!
-
Good instructor, but I don't agree with the surprise break at all. You should know exactly when that gun is going to shoot.

@CrystalHunter1989 Absolutely. Colonel Jeff was the Master Yoda of combat pistol shooting, and shooting generally. The trigger break is the last point of control you ever have over that bullet. So it's very important.

God Bless Col. Cooper. I carry your teachings with me and I will pass them on to my sons before they leave the hearth.
