If you are shanking it, that means that as you are moving through the ball you are also moving towards the ball. I know it sounds odd but check what your legs are doing and if you are bending excessively towards the ball during your down swing.

thanx i sort of understand,think i overdid it,too much at once.its took me 6 months to get my confidence back with my irons,cus im left handed{play right handed}feel i was pulling the hosel at the ball,i now imagine hitting the ball with the toe,and its getting there,cheers,still come over the top sometimes,any tips??????????

Most common mistake is that a player will drop their hands without the club. The way I visualize it is if you were a waiter and you were carrying a tray with your right hand. When you drop your arms and hands, still keep the tray balanced instead of tipping it. Once you reach the acceleration point, pour on the power. Best way I can put it I suppose. Let me know if that makes sense.

Most amateurs come 'over the top', kind of the opposite to this had motion. It allows Sergio to attack from the inside and be a shallow ball striker-a great striker. But how repetitive under pressure-I don't know. Surprised he hasn't tried to remove it

This is actually a basic fundamental in golf its called dropping it in the slot.

hogan used this aspect of sergio's technique to help achieve obscene greens in regulation percentages after his accident. good enough for me. and from what i've also read, people like nicklaus were suprised at how often he would choose to hit a draw.
