  • If you like surf instrumentals, call up one of the videos titled "Hot Doggin'" (several versions of which are posted on Youtube).

  • Expanding on some previous comments, The Astronauts -- though often considered a "surf group" -- were from Denver, Colo.

    Many of their songs were surf instrumentals (such as "Baja" and "Kuk" and "Hot Doggin'"), but they also did some fine vocals as well.

    The group never became too well-known outside of the Rocky Mountain area, but a number of their songs -- such as "Main Street" -- did quite well on Top 40 stations such as KATI (Casper, Wyo.) and Denver area stations KIMN, KBTR and KDAB.
