The Large Hadron Collider (LHC) is a particle accelerator of the European Organization for Nuclear Research (CERN) that lies under the Franco-Swiss border near Geneva, Switzerland. The LHC is in the final stages of construction and commissioning, with some sections already being cooled down to their final operating temperature of approximately 2K. The first beams are due for injection mid June 2008 with the first collisions planned to take place 2 months later. The LHC will become the world's largest and highest-energy particle accelerator. The LHC is being funded and built in collaboration with over two thousand physicists from thirty-four countries as well as hundreds of universities and laboratories.

  • this sucks i thought they would explain how the lhc works

  • what if it isnt the higgs field and its something else? smoethign we cant see.. i hope we didnt build this on a HUNCH its t he higgs haha, im sure it can do other things (the lhc that is)

  • @nez187 Wow my comment was from a year ago, to be honest, I would of been 14 at the time and alot less mature. Now, I personally think the LHC is a good and a bad thing. By they way Vampires don't exist, but my power to spell purposely does. :)

  • @DaughterOfVampire Thankfully these scientists and researchers do their homework before popping off at the mouth. You should really read into the physics that would need to be at play to create a blackhole that could potentially consume the earth. Hopefully vampires don't exist either.

  • @jasperduf On what Basis do you believe this. Is there a research facility working on this theory?

  • I hate when Religious Zealots try and reconcile modern re-dubs of countless ancient mythologies, with years of scientific research and observation. No Intelligent Aether is guiding us to the "Total Understanding of Everything" Humans will be far better off when we use logic, research, and scientific observation to theorize about the unknown, instead of insisting, without proof on the existence of an all powerful being.

  • I believe the total energy of Universe combined is the one and only GOD,the creator of heaven and earth. he is everywhere....so if this experiment could show us one step towards god, Lets go for it!!!!

  • Religion Wouldnt Crumble..... Im am a great believer in Science and God, but i believe it was all part of gods plan for it happen this way. the reason we have things like adam and eve in the bible is because it was writtem by almost primative men and they had no understanding of science, and had to try and explain to the people somehow how we came into existance... God must have been the greatest scientest to have been in existance to have done all this for us to unwind and figure out...
