Another short demonstration of using a smartdrive washing machine motor as a generator, do not try this without taking appropriate safety precautions as the setup shown can generate enough power to KILL YOU! (you would have to spin it pretty fast tho') You have been warned .

  • how can I get my hands on one of these in the US?

  • find a Fisher & Paykel washing machine with 'smartdrive' written on the control panel.

  • @audiogods or try finding a Whirlpool Cabriolet

  • What Wattage and rpm is this motor rated at?

Why the facination with this particular motor? Have you found a cheap surplus supply of them?

  • The fascination with this motor is that because it is brushless the only part that can wear out is the bearing. I scavenge these motors from recycling centres and the most I have paid for one was a dozen beers.

  • Same thing with any induction motor. watts/rpm?

  • About 1400 watts max output I think. Look at some of my other vids where I am running one phase thru a MOT.
