John Francis performs "Sheep May Safely Graze" by Johann Sebastian Bach on December 25, 2011 on solo classical guitar at Chained Sky Studios in Wichita, Kansas. Bach wrote the piece in 1713 as the 5th and most popular aria, "Schafe können sicher weiden" from his cantata known as "Was mir behagt, ist nur die muntre Jagd." It has been catalogued as BWV 208. John is playing an Aparicio AA152 Special classical guitar with cedar top.

Based on an arrangement by Kevin J Manges

Please Note: This is an AA152 Special, A Solid Brazilian Rosewood version of the AA152 which has recently become available for sale. The original titles incorrectly stated an AA142 special. The AA142 is a spruce top flamenco.

  • Thanks for a nice performance John - For those interested, the music is in Jason Waldron's book 'Popular Classics of the Great Composers' Vol 6

  • @Billinabinet Thank you, Bill. I am not familiar Jason Waldron's particular arrangement of this work. I had been playing this for years, but lost my own original arrangement to an old SCSI hard drive. I found a version by Kevin J Manges to be quite familiar and readily available on the internet. If Waldron's version is expanded, I would be very interested in it myself. :)
