I hav an old Nokia 5200 phone. I want to use the lcd screen on it but cant find the datasheet anywhere. Would it be similar to the specs of the one your using?

You are trying to create the screen for the Tricorder...
How is it going ?

Got to love the auto focus of your camera. It just does not work in this video :)

Cellphone screens are not really usefull for AVR hardware because of the controller featuring no GRAM read capability over the SPI bus which is pretty much of a problem with such a limited RAM the MCU has onboard. Parallel interface, yet being pretty port-hungry unless no additional hardware is used, can allow you to have bi-directional GRAM access allowing you to do different RMW tricks like translucent texts and graphics etc.

what is so specical about the nokia 6100 lcd?

Why its so slow? It's may be because the serial interface or you do it on purpose?

It kind of took a while to display that bitmap... hope you're not planning on doing animation at that speed.

@rebelsatcloudnine :
Just search for "How to: Nokia 6100 LCD (english version)" on my website. It is an english article about the nokia lcd.
At sparkfun you can order the breadboard, they also sell the lcd. But you get it cheaper at ebay. The costs are around 30 to 40$.

I know.
There was a bug in the delay routine. The actual version is much faster.
