Hey! How are you? My name is Joe Hartsoe. It's nice to meet you. I'm hearing but I love the Deaf world.
My schedule is busy because I'm a student, I work at the Women's Resource Center, and I work over at the dorms as a Community Advisor . Every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday my schedule really doesn't vary. Every morning I wake up and go to class around 10am. Every afternoon I go to work around 1. Then I go back to class. Every night after class is finished, I go to a meeting at 9:30. Every Tuesday and Thursday my schedule varies. In the morning I sometimes I go to class but sometimes I go to work. In the afternoons after class is finished sometimes I go to work and sometimes I go to class. In the evenings I go to meetings but sometimes I get to study. In my free time I enjoy going out with friends, reading, or watching movies. I use to play baseball but now I watch college basketball. I stopped playing baseball because I was bad at it.
Working in the dorms has taught me so much! I remember getting a call at 7 am telling me that two girls were being loud. I thought, "Awesome! Drinking at 7am" but it wasn't that! I got up, walked to their room, and knocked on their door. The door flew open and one of the girls screamed, "There's a Bat in my room!!!!!" I thought, "Oh no. No. No. No. Bats are NOT in my contract". I called my boss. He told me, "Well, call Work Request, I can't help you." So I called Work Request who told me, "Well, we're very busy and we don't know if we can come kill the bat today." I said to them, "Really?!?!?!? What??" They said to me, "O.K. Fine. We'll kill the bat today." I said to the two girls, "Work Request will kill the bat today." One of the girls screamed, "NO!!!! You kill the bat, NOW!" I thought about how I don't like bats and how they scare me but I really wanted to go to bed. I thought, "O.K. so I really want to go to bed so I just need to kill the bat. The three of us heard the bat in the vents so we trapped and killed the bat.
My mentor and friend is awesome! Her name is Brandi LaBanc. She's a woman and she's white. Brandi is shorter than me and she is tiny. She also wears really nice suits and her hair is short. Brandi is smart, motivated, and so nice! I'm so thankful to know her because she teaches me so much.
My hometown is Grand Rapids (GR), Michigan. GR has 150,000 people. People call GR the "Medical Mile" because GR has five new hospitals, three new clinics, and a new medical school. My home town is growing a lot and I hope it continues.
Well, thank you for your time! Nice to meet you and I'll see you later. Bye.
