Of the martial way you have what we call Mushin, no mind. This is the point of Kata and repetition. To program the mind to react, this is what the average person does not understand of kata. So when you are attacked the mind dissolves and only reemerges when the attacker lies disabled at your feet. It is not as catisgod says, citing Bruce Lee... mushin is not a feeling it is a programmed reaction.

I have a question. Zen masters often point to the non-dual state which does not exclude anything and where all dualism is eliminated.
Why then do they so often talk about fear as being illusory or that-which-seperates? If we point to a non-dual state which hold everything, I would logically expect a state where both fear and love (opposites) are held. Can anyone help me out on this?

“The Nirvana Sutra, which says that “when there is nothing in a jar, the jar is said to be empty—it does not mean that there is no jar.” In the same way, “when there are no discriminating thoughts such as desire or anger in the mind, the mind is said to be empty—it does not mean that there is no mind. ‘No mind’ (wu-hsin) only means that the defilements (fan-nao; klesha) have been eliminated from the mind.” -- Zen master Tsung-mi

aha interesting, you see if you are full of mind and thinking that your enemy might hit you on the left, you must work double as hard to defend on your right if he attacks there. Therefore, by not thinking at all, with no-mind, you can have the best chance of defending yourself in all directions at your best ability. Same for life, you can save yourself and not let anything be taken up by your mind.
