  • @heavyminded09 Ooohh that makes sense.

  • @Methstories pretty sure that translator is for the audience listening on radio or on tv that don't understand the english responses from sonic youth

  • btw the interviewer is British

  • How the hell can he speak French, and then English and yet still not understand English and has to have a translator?

  • Why can't they just create an overdubbed version and leave the original alone?

  • i try and try to like the French, but without success i think it's almost an innate pompous & almost annoying culture.

  • I'm german and I speak english and french. I understand not even the half of the whole interview...

  • @ufia ahh, you learn something new every day. thanks for the info :)

  • It's quite common on French Canadian TV for the interviewer to speak bilingual. Generally the host ask his question in English, then when the artist is done answering, the host translates it back to French.

First time I see the interpreter speaking over the artist, though. I must admit that was unusual, and very annoying.

Only place I had seen real time translation before was on our government channels, or the news. We have a button on our TV remote to turn the translator's voice on or off.

  • don't think I've ever seen an interview where the interviewer speaks english AND french (he changes between the two pretty damn well). Bet the idea sounded good on paper, not to well when done in real life :)
