Thanks. I thought it sounded odd. Would've assumed it was something to do with the way it was being stored or transmitted from the server if you hadn't explained.
Y'know, there's probably some sort of moral in that. Put out a bit of new tech, less talented souls decide to 'improve' originals and mostly make it worse.
Ditto how many remixes/covers are as good as or better than the original? 1 in 3? 1 in 5?

This version has the dubbed bass and drums from the 1980s CD release, but the 1995 CD has been restored with the original bass and drums.

This is not a very good version; although, this version of the song is on "mothermania" the best of the mothers of invention. I still have the album

So why the Hell is it that only a little over 10,000 views of this has been charted when this video has been up for a little over four years now?
Frank Zappa would have rested his case!

I know this is sacrilege, but I prefer the 1984 remix. I've always thought the drums and bass on the original were not well played, and I like having uncensored versions. However, I agree that the remix was often an unbalanced mess (though bringing the guitars up on "Flower Punk" is a huge improvement) and that the drum sounds in particular are way off. I'm going to have to get "Hot Money" to see how that is, but I wonder if the masters were just too far gone in 1984 for much to be done.
