  • Very impressive, and produced so long ago, a question for you: Was the music reproduced at this quality back in the time so to speak? If so, then I imagine that there was no other form of entertainment to even come close.

To think I hated classic music as a boy! I realised as I grew up watching films, that without this class of audio refinement a lot of films would not be the same. I'm reffering to John Williams and so forth of course.

  • @mikester1290 The child brain is too immature to grasp and appreciate most classical music. And so are most adult brains, by the way. Ha ha ha (Just a little joke there. Well, not really...)

'Was the music reproduced at this quality back in the time so to speak?', you write. I'm afraid I don't know what you mean by that.

  • @REV16665 Aha, what I mean by the quality question is; the music in its purest form is in the sheet music (I think, I am NO expert by the way, please don't flame) How well is the music reproduced by the people who play the instruments all those years ago compared to now? Instrument quality and ability to use such instrument as it were. If one was to go back in time and hear a showing of such and compare to a modern day rendition, just a thought of course.

  • @mikester1290 Sorry, but I don't know how well they played in the old'n days. My time machine is defective. I do know that J.S.Bach (1685-1750; Mozart 1756-1791) wasn't always too impressed with the quality of his instrumentalists. But the musical instruments weren't too bad, I guess. Think of Stradivari, Amati!

  • @mikester1290 You mustn't make the mistake to think Mozart 'heared' this music as big as it is played right now. Here you see an orchestra about twice as big as was normal in Mozart's time. I'm sure the music must have sounded more intense and intimate back in the days, nowadays it's too 'bombastic'.
