Not even kidding, I prefer Redman's version over Brecker's version. Sometimes I just think these people are too good at what they do though lol.

Really fantastic. I love the use of the drum set in this concerto.
It's pretty rare you hear a good classical sound out of a tenor...Josh just changes from classical to jazz before you even realize it.
It's really interesting comparing concertos written recently: Psatha, Yoshmatsu, Anthony, Hugo...they all have heavy jazz influence but are inherently classical in unique ways. It's really too bad this stuff isn't more popular, I think more people would love it if they only knew about it.

I got the New Zealand Symphony cd with this song on it, called View From Olympus. WOW is all I can say!
That first theme is a quote from the beginning of Delta City Blues if you listen closely

Good call, but actually it's a merging of that opening (which Mike liked idea of) and a much earlier piece of mine called Seikilos.
