What a captivating little piece. To say it is like Granados tinged with Debussy and Ravel is to take nothing away from its own special charm. Why is Mompou not better known?

That's the touch! Like Kempff touching a white dove.

Do you have the original video of Stephen Hough played Rhapsody on A Theme of Paganini at the same concert? I really want it!

If Debussy had been born Catalan, he would have written music such as this. This is magical music....Ravel is there, as is Poulenc....but the sound is all Mompou....I'm in love with this composer's work....you should be, as well. Check out Jonathan Plowright's new disc "Hommage a Chopin": it will mesmerize and bewitch you....he interprets Mompou like no one else....
You can literally hear the birds chirping as he is playing this. He had the audience in the palm of his hand. Great performance!

ive watched this video 3 times and i'm still amazed to see him pull this off. it is a beautiful piece of course, but i think of mompou's music as "small" and to see it performed in a huge stadium is almost ironic. but somehow it works. more power to hough and mompou both.
