I am fascinated by those beautiful, effective and environmentally sound modern wind turbines.
This is the Repower MM92, rated power: 2000kW, rotor diameter: 92.5m, hub height: 100m.

  • With such a short lifespan of these huge and expensive monsters is it worth it? They must take nearly as much energy to manufacture and install than they actually make, then in 15 years they are scrap and will probably just litter our countryside. This is not my idea of preserving our planet.

  • @AdLaura Correct, I'm not sure why you did'nt realise this.

  • @NANOFORGE -- Oh good. I take from your comment that you've

'seen the light' with regards to IWT's. Very good. My work here is done. Carry on.

  • @AdLaura Oh dear lord, I posted that comment nearly a year ago and you call me a mindless lemming....Get out more kid.

  • @pacificcresttrans Wrong, wrong and wrong again. Go do a bit of updated research on these environmental inefficient disasters.

  • @NANOFORGE -- You don't know what the hell you're talking about. Do a little research before being such a mindless lemming, ready to jump off the cliff just because you hear the word "green". Wind turbines require a rare earth element. In order to extract that element from the ground, toxic wastelands are being created, destroying what was once farmland. In addition, they kill wildlife, disrupt migratory birdpaths and only have a life expectancy of 15 to 20 years. Then what??

  • @hillberg100 -- People are so easily sold by the word "green" when they have absolutely no idea what they're agreeing to. The sad thing is that they're all just lemmings waiting to be the next one to jump off that cliff. Wind turbines are an assault against land, nature, people and the environment.

  • @martcerv -- The only true way to be green is through conservation. Not by building these ugly behemoths that are unreliable, expensive and only have a lifespan of 15 to 20 years. There are over 14000 abandoned wind turbines in the States now. Can you imagine 20 years from now??? People are so easily sold by the word "green". Your statement is correct.

  • @nlpjohn -- You are 100% correct. Wind turbines are NOT environmentally friendly. The rare earth elements needed to produce these things are creating massive toxic wastelands, ruining good farmland and destroying wildlife and migratory bird paths. Not to mention that they're an unreliable energy source.
