The Choose Model of schooling (Sudbury, Democratic) requires just one test.
SAT's in the States.
Provincial Exams in Canada.
Students in school are aware of the fact that if they want to attend top Universities like MIT or Harvard, they will need exceptional scores on their tests.
This gives them a goal.
It makes them hungry to learn so they can pursue their passions at higher, more challenging levels.
And. It's good for bureaucrats, to point at test scores and say, "See? Learning!" ^_^
