  • thats an interesting CONCEPT, can i ask if you have any articles or journals about the said idea. im also taking my thesis now. and i find that concept interesting

  • There was a lot of stuff in my mind at the moment. I can tell you it was ovbiously influenced by Archigram and Lebbeus Woods (Anarchitecture). Heavily influenced by Neuromancer and bit by Count Zero and Mona Lisa Overdrive by William Gibson. Also Ghost in the Shell. Victor Shklovsky's "Art as Device". In the end the project ended up having a message of its own....it is the American Suburbia...you give up your will and energy in return of a blissful dream world

  • @edmac78 Hey there! Excellent project. I am researching my thesis year and am very interested to incorporate parasitic techniques, potentially further.

If you have a moment ;), I have a few quick questions for you.

    With much interest :

What / where was your site?

    How did 'the parasite' evolve?

    Intention? / Functionality?

Lastly, how did you explore the cyberWorld to generate this space and structure?

    Thanks for your time.

    Ciao,

    abrisi_

  • @abrisi687 Hi man, thanks.

Site was Coney Island, NY. Which you could argue is full of parasites....mechanical structures of a demoutable nature on a usually perceived natural environment (a beach)......and also the human parasites! ( area around it is very rich in terms of interesting communities)

  • The parasite in this case did not evolve literally (as in fluidly mutated from one stage to another as a caterpillar would transform into a butterfly lets say) But rather, the project changed as the semester passed ( I quickly deployed a design and modified it as more research and critique by tutors and jurors was put into it). But in the fianl interation, you could say the parasite evolution is as follows:

  • Great comment pretentious D bag!

  • The exploration of new ideas is always valid and necessary for progress.

The designers who take risks and expand the discussion of what is possible create the new design language.

There is nothing wrong with elegant simple function, but even that was a design language that had to be explored and developed.

This "Parasitic Architecture" is intriguing. The project is obviously posing questions and exploring new ideas and not trying to be a pretty box.

  • Ew who likes fungus and parasites?

  • @RockNRococo

Bear in mind aesthetics means different things to different people. I happen to quite like the aesthetic features of this idea, and I also like the smooth, curving features of other designs, and, as you say, elegance and functionality. That doesn't necessarily mean that the latter is 'right' and the other is 'wrong'.

  • It's amazing what people call "Art" these days...

  • This sucks.

  • loco y en ese bicho uno por donde camina?

  • i dont get it ?

  • interesting
