This is the long-awaited adaptation of the best-selling 1994 start of the controversial "Kyou Goku Do" series. There were eventually eight volumes in this series of novels, selling over four hundred million copies. Many fans of the books considered this movie impossible to make, considering the scope and complexity of the story, but director Akio Jissoji and his talented cast have risen to the challenge.
The occult thriller begins in 1945 Tokyo, with novelist Tsubasa Sekiguchi reluctantly becoming involved in some strange incidents at the Kyou Goku Do temple. Yoriko, a "temple daughter" is in her twentieth (yes, twentieth) month of pregnancy, when her husband mysteriously disappears from a room that was locked from the inside. With the help of detective Tsurejido Enoki, Sekiguchi searches for an explanation, only to uncover even more eerie incidents, including the mysterious death of a nurse, and the disappearance of an infant. This film promises many surprises and some great terror.
