Afro-Punk, a 66-minute documentary, explores race identity within the punk scene. More than your everyday, Behind the Music or typical "black history month" documentary this film tackles the hard questions, such as issues of loneliness, exile, inter-racial dating and black power.

  • We need more afro punks. I'm honestly tired of loving a genre that champions racial and gender equality but is made up of 85% straight white males. Rap and hip hop aren't bad things, but I think there needs to be more blurring of the lines of what's considered "black" and "white" music. I think black and white people should be able to keep and be proud of their heritage and culture, but if we're ever going to be truly equal, we need to have more things culturally in common.

  • whats this..i didnt know there were even people in the world that felt the way i do.im black but i didnt think there were many black punk rockers in the world...i heard about the festival..i shud go this year..find a black girl that i find intrest in..... =) brown sugar hear i cumm...lol

  • @invadercheeze and i couldnt agree with you more cheeze to be honest i always like punk rock but really wasnt in to it but a few years back i really started to get hip with it im not a poser i still rock girbaud air jordans and polo but deep down inside i know im punk i can be an ass and a jackass at that i can be a daredevil like bam margera and ryan dunn r.i.p. and all those other guys except shoving a toy car up my ass which i will pass on that but i do agree wit u on unity though

  • @invadercheeze i hate the fact that modern blacks say they like rock and roll but still they listen to hip hop not saying anything is wrong with it but i always felt that it was more to it then hip hop i would get criticized for listening to white music i mean dude its more to it than listening to somebody getting killed or you get purp by the pound and goose by the 5th or fuckin a bitch or getting money come on we get it black ppl dont do too much but im just saying come with a new topic

  • Any UK Afropunks out there, give me a nudge. Want to hear you.

  • I love this Documentary...

  • well, im a punk, im white, and im dating a black girl, cant label that girl, but i do know i love her dearly, she knows who i am and how i am and what i believe, shes even came to my bands practice, she said she likes us, probably being nice but to some degree she likes punk, maybe one day she might join the movement, either way i love her...idk exactly what im getting at here but i kinda wish there were more afropunk bands and just people, or just more bands and people in general :)

  • You keep the afropunk move ment alive...keep the the street alive with your muisc

  • @Jerkycrane

  • I WANNA SEE THIS BADLY

  • im black and i listened to punk since my early childhood. to me, punk is more than just "anarchy" or "anti-establishment," it a way of life. i have and will forever be part of the culture and what pisses me off the most is the fact that people would prefer that i should listen to rap and r&b or eat kfc, drink grape soda or follow any other black stereotype. you know what

    FUCK YOU!!

    PUNK'S NOT DEAD

    OI OI OI!!!
