The car knocked the scaffolding back like 5 feet. The competitive field at Sonoma saw many drivers pushing their machines into the wall after the initial clipping point in an effort to leave nothing on the table during their qualifying runs. Not only did the wall claim 2005 Sonoma winner Calvin Wan, but Top drivers Tyler McQuarrie, Mitsuru Haruguchi, Taka Aono, Hiro Sumida and Bill Sherman all found themselves in similar situations. Fortunately nobody was seriously injured.

The US drifting community is close nit, and when a driver finds himself in a situation like this, he can count on his team of mechanics, sponsors, and friends to help him get his car back into competition shape.

The community is what makes drifting such an appealing and rewarding sport to be part of.

If you have never been to a drifting event, you need to make it out to the track to see this amazing motorsport first hand.

  • You are sick and twisted for glorifying the misfortune of one of the nicest drivers in the sport as well as the team who has single handedly carried this sport on it's shoulders since day one. I guess we should start calling you ambulance chasers? Why not show all the great things that happened at Sonoma instead of capitalizing on someones tramatizing mistake? Terrible.

  • Send emails to Drift Zone and Formula D if you feel that you are not getting a good view of what professional drifting has to offer.

  • big crash !!!!

  • At least he made impact in the rear, not in the front. If this is the same car that has the TItan V8 in it, there was probably some extensive modifications made in order to fit that motor in the engine bay!

  • The end of a great drift car.
