  • Dick Landy,Sox & Martin, Grumpy Jenkins Heroes in my book, Thanks for posting.

  • This is why drag racing was interesting back then. You could relate to the car. Today's "Funnys" and "Pro Stocks"? LOL! It's lost it's perspective completely. Landy, Sox, Jenkins....man, could these guys shift manually. The thrill is gone.

  • Those were the days. I spent every Friday, and Saturday night at Detroit Dragway in 1969-1973 when they were racing.... The Ramchargers, Roger Lindamood, Connie Kalitta, Terry Hedrick, man those were the days.... Funny Car heaven for me....

  • @ILoveLauriePartridge... Agreed!

  • Classic Drag Racing! Thanks for sharing

  • i have a ton of footage from 70'-73' on 8mm from New England dragway when i was 11. the high point was getting Dandy dicks autograph in 71'...i also have photos of "jungle jims" vega station wagon pro stock..other than my picture i have never seen another one!

  • 1971...i wasn't even born... i wish i could time travel and see it with my eyes. That engine sound makes me crazy)

  • Thanks for the trip down memory lane.Priceless...

  • These guys were REAL tuners, not the modern 'tuner' that punches a few keys on a laptop to change fuel curves and cam timing crap. These guys are the godfathers of all modern performance cars at the strip, American or import. Truly the glory days of drag racing. I was born way to late.

  • this is so cool. I was at this race. what a great day.

  • in fact not realy chrysler did...the "ramcharger" team did alter the wheelbase to get more grip.

also they all worked for chrysler at day, their race thing was totaly freetime and unpayed personal. that did look funny but after a short period everybody copied it cause ramcharger team won that good.

  • They are called Funny Cars because Chrysler did the First altered wheelbase cars , and an inspector said the Chrysler cars looked "funny". Oh BTW,,,,ALL T/F and FUNNY cars of today are powered by a derived version of the original GEN II HEMI...ALL OF THEM. When John Force jumps out of his car and brags about this ole FORD Mustang running so well.....it's because of the1964 design of the CHRYSLER HEMI !!!!
