eglus are cute but terrible, unless you let them free range and still, they are cramped and are not cozy on the inside. THEY ARE VERY EXPENSIVE and I mean rip off price. There are far better coops for way less money, and if you are a good builder or just daring then build your own.

@bunniboo1414 The Eglus have lots of benefits. For 2 chickens, the size of the unit is perfectly adequate - hens tend to sleep pushed up together in any case to keep warm. Plus, unlike wood, the plastic interior is very hygenic, I washed it out with disenfectant and warm soapy water every week and it wipes dry with kitchen towel. This is useful in preventing mites , fleas ,worms and the like. I think most chicken pet owners allow their hens additional space for freeranging

can I leave the hens in the run all day and night? or do they have to come out to run about? I don't have a fenced yard. tia

What is suggested is that you leave the hens in the run at all times or if you do let them out, it has to be under supervision.
At night they will automatically go into the Eglu to sleep. You need to lock them in overnight and wake up early to let them out. They usually like to come out soon after sun rise so it will mean early mornings!

Nottingham. They're pretty quiet but will chirp /sing quite loudly if you don't let them out early in the morning
