A Kneeling German Premier Puts Japan and Japanese In Shames
A kneeling German Premier.

Warschauer Kniefall (German for "Warsaw Genuflection") refers to a gesture of humility and penance by social democratic Chancellor of Germany Willy Brandt towards the victims of the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising.
The incident took place during visit to a monument to the Nazi-era Warsaw Ghetto Uprising on December 7, 1970, in what was then the communist Peoples Republic of Poland. After laying down a wreath, Brandt, very surprisingly, and to all appearances spontaneously, knelt. He remained silently in that position for a short time, surrounded by a large group of dignitaries and press photographers.

It should be noted in this context that Brandt himself had actively resisted the early Nazi regime, and had spent most of the time of Hitler's reign in exile. The occasion of Brandt's visit to Poland at the time was the signing of the Treaty of Warsaw between West Germany and the Peoples Republic of Poland, guaranteeing German acceptance of the new borders of Poland. The treaty was one of the Brandt-initiated policy steps (the 'Ostpolitik') to ease tensions between West and East during the Cold War.

  • what it has to do with the knee-fall? the germans, not like japan, as agressors in WW2 thought about their crimes and their guilt in this war and apologized for it. in the 1960s the so called 68-generaton changed the whole german society, to a critical, anti-war and peaceloving society. i miss that in japan, its time my friends..

    greets, a german.

  • This guy is a proud for germans. He regains respects and trusts from the whole world for Germany after the Nazi shit things.

  • The Japanese have excused themselves for what they did. The thing is that it's not good enough. They say they're sorry, but at the same time you have some moron or a group of morons (in the government) going: "Nope! The Chinese are lying!". See how this creates a problem? Also, one should not forget that Japan is very traditional, much like Great Britain.

So, how to solve it? Get the Emperor down there and make him apologise. He's the head of state, like Willy Brandt was.

  • @johnjohnnyist buhu! how many people killed mao in his war against his own people? more than enough!

did communist china ever apologize for there things? no one cares...

how many people died under US american hands? vietnam, panama etc.

there are many countrys who did bad mistakes.. russia and great britain, too.

  • @Lukassimos closer to 20 million actually

  • @kikusiakikusia why do they have to be a European country?

As far as the treatment of Allied POW If anything what the Japanese were even worse then the Nazi regime.

They crucified people and put others into forced labour while not feeding them enough or simply starved them to death.

The fact they have the tenacity to deny that this ever happened means they have a lot to be ashamed of

  • @ohmannhey People cannot be excused for war crimes - what happened was not an understandable mishap, but they can be forgiven.

It is much harder to forgive the Japs then the Germans, because Japan denies many of the facts of what their countrymen did. Children are not taught in Japanese schools what their grandfathers etc did - they are only told about Horishima.

As a result they think they were the main victims, which they weren't.

I can understand why so many Chinese hate the Japs so much

  • @Visionforger those who we asked for forgiveness, should maybe think of their "kneefall" today! and i'm talking here about all major powers who never excused for anything! it's not japan only...

  • ùngláublich_sÚcht_mAl_NÁch:_geldeasy_ÄÜf_gÔOglË

  • @kikusiakikusia

No but the japanese never excused themselves for their war crimes. The Germans did.
