The controls are expanded for several reasons. It is maintenance friendly. If the controls need to be fixed, the whole controlebox doesn't need to be taken out of the rear leader. And the height is of the controls is more ergonomic for the operators. The controls can be placed back into the rear loader when the operation is finished.

@MitchellM15 Becuase the rave rail is down so it has the same affect as open backs and low level lifters for health and safety the blade stops 500 mm before you got to hold the hopper sweep button in until it starts to sweep then let go it will finish the cycle on its own .

Cool to see one of these packers taking some bulk-waste, chopped straight down into that sofa. Also how come the packer has to be started to drop the blade after it swings out - usually automatic isn't it? The controls stick out far behind the truck too!
