New Philharmonia Orchestra, Otto Klemperer BBC Chorus Agnes Giebel, Soprano Janet Baker, Alto Nicolai Gedda, Tenor Hermann Prey, Baritone Franz Krass, Bass Studio Recording, October 1967
Thanks for posting this. Just mind blowing really. The chorus is really BBC chorus- they seem to be bunch of soloists hand-picked for this: never heard better choir for this peace- the voices are so well blended and well balanced. Just listen to Crucifixus for example 17:54. Stunning
The cover of this recording on the Internet does not mention the BBC Symphony Chorus. The BBC Symphony Chorus is an amateur group which was known at the time as the BBC Choral Society.
It has never released any commercial Bach recordings.
