"Kids going to karate class" is the other way of saying "I just copied from the Japanese designers because I didn't know what to do". It looks classy enough for Bottega's buyers, and it looks good. Yes, the way japanese designers created modern fashion using their own culture always led to interesting folds in clothes and a controlled dishevelled look. Loved the pale dress with a lot of embroidery. That was original Bottega Veneta.

ohhh beautiful concept :) quite gorged to think about. such a beautiful collection. probably the most beautiful one yet including NY and london... so soft and fragile and gorgeous colours. A HIT!
This looks nothing like a Japanese designer produced it. They have their own nuances, just as Germanic designers do, and to me this looks very German, with an air of Japonism. The simplicity is elegant, and I love the idea of the garment changing upon its wearer's body. It's clear he had a manifesto in mind, and Maier delivered something quite original, useful, and attractive. How divine! Elegance is always in fashion.
