How can you live the creative life when you spend your evenings slouched in front of the TV? Need someone to give you a little push so you'll put down that remote and get into the studio? That's my job!

  • oh, honey, you've gotta be here with me--i wear those over my skirts because i like the jingly-ness of them. and they look so cool i had to have a way to look at them when they're not being worn.

  • Great advice, will definately give this a go :), though my big black hole of time wasting happens to be the internet rather than the TV :P

  • you know, i'm hearing this a lot. it's true--the internet DOES eat time. i've got to think about this some more--as someone who stays in contact with the world through the internet--yikes! if people gave it up, i'd be here all alone. . . .

  • I have been doing just what you said to do for over a month now and it has been the most artistically productive time. I recommend it for everybody.

  • that's so cool! help me spread the word, OK? tell everyone!

  • I shall do your bidding and let you know. I loved all your video they were fun and inspirational. xx00xx

  • oh, good! let me know how it works for you--and remember: not watching tv is only half of it. the other half is sitting in whatever space it is that you think of as your art space.

  • I agree with the tv.

I got rid of mine a few weeks ago, and it feels great!

  • This is SO true! I work full time (office hell!) and often use the I have no time for art! excuse. I am by far not a perfect example because there are a LOT of days its all I can do is plop in front of the TV after work and numb my brain even further, but one way I try to limit TV is by recording the shows Im interested in so that I can watch them at a time that I am available for themnot the other way around!

(Also I agree that the internet can be just as bad as TV...)

  • One hour after I drop off the kids , I paint. I have done this for the past two weeks. I think if they are working hard in school, I should be working hard at home too!

  • I couldn't help but notice the decorations on your wall. Forgive me if this is too intrusive and/or offensive in any way, but are those for belly dance, showing arabian horses or just decoration? :)

  • same on this. all our tv comes through dvd or the internet, but i've found that between our "only one episode a night" rule and using that time to knit (maybe i'll add other crafts soon), i feel pretty pleased. surfing the internet uses up the hands i need for crafting, but it's at least great for inspiration -- etsy, ravelry and so many blogs and videos like these.

  • Gracias (thnk u)

  • The tv is not my problem.. It's putting the laptop down while I'm in my studio at night and watching YouTube and catching up with blogs and emails.
