Ava (Calpernia Addams) is a transsexual woman who has recently completed her transition. Her friend and mentor Joyce (Andrea James) has long advised her to get her apartment transproofed, a slang term for hiding all the evidence that shes trans.

In Avas case, thats a tall order: Ava came up through the club scene as a showgirl, and both Ava and her apartment are vibrant, sexy, and full of clues.

Ava calls Joyce for a last-minute transproofing because her hot new boyfriend Mike (Joel Lambert) is coming over for dinner that night. Joyce races over to help Ava give the place an Extreme Ho Makeover more in Joyces aesthetic: plain and non-descript. Joyce reminds Ava that passing as female means blending in and not drawing attention to yourself. Both Ava and her apartment are garish and flashy, and the two set to work making it look like a drab straight girls apartment.

Set to the pulsing club single Next, they go from room to room, leaving no stone unturned: closets, medicine cabinets, bookshelves, and even the fridge. As Ava watches more and more of who she is being hidden from view, she starts to have second thoughts about how much she is willing to sacrifice to live stealth, where no one knows she is trans.

Will Ava be able to walk away from everything that made her who she is and start fresh? Or will she risk losing another guy she really likes by telling him shes trans?

  • where can i get my hands on this film?

    in australia...

    if that makes a difference.

  • @Jaxxon82 It's on Amazon, or you can go to transproofed d0t c0m =D

  • @Roerpues Ha ha, you haven't seen many movies then. Check out "Manos: The Hands of Fate" and you'll start to understand what a bad movie is. Or maybe you'd prefer the movie "TROLL".

  • While I'm sure this will be hilarious, the problem with agenda flicks is everyone always "sees the light" at the end and do not react like normal people. Telling someone you are a transsexual on a dinner date where he assumes he is going to get lucky would probably put a premature end to evening.

  • Ah, but you're assuming my character makes the choice to tell him, or that if she does tell him, we have him reacting favorably. We're not as simple as you might assume! ;)

  • *TRUE STORY AHEAD*

you never know how you would react in this situation until the day you're living it. I always thought it would make me uncomfortable, but a while ago, I was attracted to this guy, and he fancied me. So one day I just started telling him how I felt and he was like "There's something you should know: I'm trans." I had 3 simultaneous reactions:

#1 I would never have guessed

    #2 I don't care

#3 Hey! You're changing the subject!

so there. real-life reactions aren't always negative

  • Fortunately, the man I met recently, does not require "trans-proofing" he is one of the rare ones that knows, yet is not a "freak", "weirdo", or "trans-lover", just a normal guy who just doesn't care. (Or so it seems , so far...wish me luck!) But he is obviously one of the rare ones. Keep your fingers crossed!!

  • IMHO, stealth is the same as lying to someone. that's just me. don't get me wrong, I don't think it's first date material, but I feel they have the right to know eventually. if someone TRUELY cares about you they won't care. If it's such a big deal to them they're willing to leave someone over it, they don't love EVERYTHING about that person. just my opinion.

  • story of my life. i have to keep my facebook transproof, which is damn near impossible when you have tons of trans girlfriends!!!! will never get rid of them though! never!

  • Anyone know if this is on Netflix?

  • hey calpernia .... i would like to see this film ...where can i get it ?

  • Girl, this happened to me years ago during transition! It was pretty funny, really: As I was opening my apartment door, I turned around and quick told him "Oh, and there's one more little thing. I'm a transsexual", and then shut the door really quick, and all of a sudden he's on the other side saying "Let me in!! That's awesome!!! Please!!!" LOL

  • A hoot. Thank you! I laughed the other day when I walked down the aisle at the supermarket where salad dressings are. :-)

I'm looking at this from the other direction, 20 years of deep stealth, and now wondering if stealth still works for me.

  • @CalperniaAddams Or a really bad movie is Batman and Robin or Kazaam.
