Movies like this & The Omen was Ground breaking right after that in 70s, was real scary & Epic & never forgotten how good was these three 70/ flicks.

They dont make movies like this anymore

If you view the flipside; that whole family except the little girl is evil, The preist is even an evil preist, and the forces of nature are forcing him to 'get out'. The family faces their punishment for trying to kill the girl; they want to throw her down the well, like Samara in 'The Ring'. But it's all unperceivable. Nature saves the girl by forcing the family to leave, for they'll try to kill her as long as they stay in that house, because the vortex in the basement brings out their evil.

I was 11 when this came out. The most frightening thing is the house itself. It has a face. It was built in Dutch Colonial style. I'm Dutch. Nuff said.

I agree! That shit scared me straight and i had to sleep with my TV or a light on for a month! It wasn't the Demon that scared me in the movie... was the home movies in the movie that creeped the hell out of me (SPOLIER alert if you haven't seen it). The demon in the movie was a joke though lol. He seriously looked like he could be in slipknot, haha!

The Amityville Horror movie (this one) was cheesy but you gotta admit it was pretty good!
