We all know chameleons can change their colour at will, but how do they do it? And is it really because of camouflage?

Alright now I understand where the colours come from, but how can it be that it can have different patterns like stripes or circles..? I could imagine that it's possible now for them to change colour over their whole body, but it's still a mystery to me where those patterns come from.. Thanks for the video btw, that was really informative ^^
