@DJBRIEF You could, but you have to be careful and let the barrel cool. A lot of people don't realize that machine guns aren't meant for continuous sustained fire unless they have a water jacket around the barrel, like the old Maxim guns. If you fire too many rounds in quick succession, you will destroy the barrel.

i was a saw gunner for six months in the infantry.. loved it.. and I got a huge burn on my finger when I grabbed that exposed barrel .. you only do that once, believe me.. that's before they started making saw's with hand guards over the top of the barrel.
