But Miao in China has very good social status and are well treated, nit like Hmong in US are marginalized and utilized as tools to harm Chinese social stability. In simple words, you are American citizens and not Chinese, you maybe have some cultural and blood relations with Miao in China, that's all.

Miao is specifically refering to Chinese Miao ethnic, Hmong is a very vague term used by some narrow-minded Miao descents who fled out Laos and moved to America, but some of them are used as spies and agents to do some penetration in China.
