A very brief look into ancient philosophies/differences between two cultures. This was made for you. Enjoy

Broadly, speaking, Western society strives to find and prove "the truth", while Eastern society accepts the truth as given and is more interested in finding the balance. Westerners put more stock in individual rights; Easterners in social responsibly.

  • Not only did you not clarify just what you were talking about in terms of "East" and "West" - and the term "East" is dangerously broad - you presented the contrasts without explanation in a manner suggesting the differences are more simple and clear-cut than they are. I don't expect anything scholarly on You Tube, but it would be best if you stopped trying to create and spread stereotypes.

  • @godlessyurifan but you took the time to spam my video with your view and i have no problem with that. If you were to kindly click the link I have provided under the description, this should suffice for you.

  • @Yirmeyahu23

Frankly, whoever posted that was not well-versed in either traditions. The truth is, there is very little difference between eastern and western philosophies in their pros and their cons. The only one that ought to be excluded is China, as it was historically separated from monotheism (anything east of that took from China).

And even so, Taoism is comparable to Pyrrhonian Skepticism, and Confucianism is much like Plato's Republic; both of which developed around the same time.

  • @Luc88Cole yea thats good you finally caught on that this wasnt my personal opinion, it only took you two or three posts to not fully read the vid description.

  • @Yirmeyahu23

Then why spread this nonsense, silly child?

  • @Luc88Cole I'm 25 and your 23. I clearly state its a brief look into the two dichotomies, quit trying to start trouble.

  • What's this music?

  • @VanillaSnow23

There is no such thing as "East vs West"

It's more of a "Passive vs Active"

And both Passive and Active ideals can be found in the EAST and the WEST...

According to the video's ideas on this subject, Japan, South Korea, Singapore and other "developed" countries in Asia should be considered "Western"

While "undeveloped" countries like Guatemala, Peru, and other Western Undeveloped nations should be considered "Eastern"

  • @Yirmeyahu23

however, he is right about one thing, In today's world, Philosophy is very mixed, and in my opinion there is and always has been very little difference between Western and Easter thought.

I prefer to view these things as just "Human philosophies" instead of "Western vs Easter philosophies"

  • Well, according to this video, Japan, South Korea, Singapore, Australia and all other "developed" states must be considered "West"

    So basically this video says:

    East--- Undeveloped, Backward, seclusive, LAZY

West--- Developed, Progressive, open, Hard working and competitive...

So since Japan, South Korea and Australia are considered "developed" they are "Western" right? EVEN THOUGH they are Geographically Eastern because they are all East of the Prime Meridian on the globe...

  • @godlessyurifan ah shut up you loser, you can see what the video maker was getting at so stop being so damn picky

  • I believe the East has the upper edge, because it is more in touch with nature and the balance of life...

Remember, folks, the Sun sets in the West and rises in the East.
