The Geek - Wir sind Helden (English subtitles)

German band "Wir sind Helden" with the song "The Geek (shall inherit)" (No need for a translation there).

*) It's a pun on a quotation from the Bible:
He went a little farther and fell on His face, and prayed, saying, O My Father, if it is possible, let this cup pass from Me; nevertheless, not as I will, but as You will.

In German the word "cup" (Kelch) is simular to a slang word for an annoying person (Knilch).

Yet an other very difficult translation with many puns and magic with words, which are lost during translation. You'll still get the general picture of the song from reading the subtitles, but in order to fully understand it you've got quite a few German classes ahead of you.
And I'll be very grateful for any corrections you may have. Didn't quite get what they're saying at the beginning. So please don't hesitate to throw me a comment also if don't have anything to correct.

My English translation:

Nice job-however-"steal" is a misinterpretation. We are talking about the popular boy finally noticing the nerdy girl in the cheesy hollywood "take off her glasses moment"-'never noticed how pretty you were before'. So it should be "take off". It's in juxtaposition to the guy getting the homecoming queen at last. BRILLIANT song. Thanks 4 posting it!

@Nark15 Funny. I never looked at it in that way. I just saw it as the "jock" trying to tease the nerdy guy by stealing his glasses. Imo it makes more sense with the "Sag ihm: danke, die bleibt, wo sie ist"-line as an encouragement to stand up for himself, rather than the nerdy girl being told by the song to symbolically reject the popular guy's proposal. But, your translation is the more literally correct than my one, and it allows both interpretations, so I will change it . Thx 4 ur comment!=)
