Rebecca HORN - (1992) - L'Estel Ferit (Barcelona - Spain)

These blocks, tower thing and leaning cubes on Barceloneta beach [Playa de la Barceloneta - 41°22'35N 02°11'28E] near Port Vell, which seem to have become a bit of a landmark, are actually an art work called L'Estel Ferit (the wounded star or the injured comet) it was designed by the artist the German-born Rebecca Horn [http://www.rebecca-horn.de/] and was commissioned for the 1992 Olympics, She is a contemporary international star whose work combines a variety of mediums including video, performance, installation and sculpture. The Wounded Star pays homage to the Barceloneta borough, originally the sailors' quarters. This rusty titled tower conjures up images of an old lighthouse which is no longer in use or needed. The sculpture consists of four steel cubes stacked one above the other. The material used is iron, glass and light on a big concrete base. Inside the bottom cube are sea related things that are lit up at night.

  • Your exquisite taste regarding the art and its metaphors, is reflected in the choice of this stunning art work as theme for your wonderful and meditative video... L'Estel Ferit - simple and meaningful...

"no matter how injured you are as long as you are standing up and your inner light can still guide the "ships" to shore".

Absolutely, can't be omitted here the particularly role of the music, another great choice to create high-class atmosphere.

    Congratulations and thanks for sending!
