1990 Honda Accord F22a1 valve seals/piston rings bad

I am pretty sure my valve seals and/or piston rings are bad in my 1990 Honda Accord, the engine is a F22a1. It came out of no where and saddens me. Hoping to get her fixed very soon.

  • Did your car ever stop smoking like that? My 91 accord does the same thing but it eventually goes away after a little while.

Thanks for the comment. I'm pretty sure my head gasket is good. The video makes the smoke look white but it's actually blue. It does stop smoking at idle when it is warmed up but as soon as I get on the gas it smokes a lot but will not at idle.

Have you heard of cb7tuner? It's a forum just for 4th gen accords, you should check it out sometime.

  • hey, i got a mechanic that can rebuild your engine. hes pretty cheap. let me know if u want his number.

  • @acidrainred Thanks for letting me know. I'll call/text ya when I figure out what I'm gonna do.

  • BAD PISTON RINGS,,

  • ya bro valve stem seals

  • It's more then likely Not valve seals..Bad Rings or blown head gasket would be where my money would be..seeing its more whitish I'd say( Head gasket) Do a leak down test and pop your radiator cap off...If you get bubbles, then it's deff your Head Gasket.

  • @sumwoofercrazy Yes. I've found that forum and also 2 others which are very good: Honda-tech and HondaAccordForum... They're all helpful sites and good.

I just ran 1/3 can of Seafoam through my pvc valve and ended up having the engine emit white smoke... I thought "O no, this can't be very good"... It went away but I don't know why it did it.

  • you're car maybe burning coolant. It could be a bad head gasket.
