In a song transcription like this I think the melodic line should be articulated as if the words were being sung. Some pianists have the words in mind as they play, as if enunciating with their fingers. In this performance there's a spot that rubs me the wrong way. The first words are, "Love walked right in and drove the shadows away." It's the "shadows away" that is rushed and glossed over. Listen to the two other performances on this on YouTube to get the point. Otherwise, great performance.

The sheet music is available from Chappells in London. Benjamin's recording of Love Walked In is included on his CD 'This and That' which is available via his website.

Benjamin will be playing the Grieg piano concerto with the Philharmonia at the Festival Hall on January 25th 2009
I am a big fan of Benjamin! I am looking forward to what will almost certainly be a wonderful and great professional career.
