On December 4 2010, the South Gippsland Railway operated a special train with rebuilt DERMs 55RM and 61RM plus Brill trailer 200MT along the length of their line between Nyora, Korumburra and Leongatha.

61RM had recently been transferred from the Victorian Goldfields Railway, while 200MT had undergone an extensive restoration by the Seymour Railway Heritage Centre and this was their first day in service on the South Gippsland Railway and join 55RM which has been based at the SGR for many years.

This video features on board footage from 61RM of the returning afternoon run from Leongatha to Korumburra

  • At the crossing at 3:50 to 7:09 we have done a sleep drop of 180 sleepers which is only some that have to be replaced out of the 340 that is needed to Ruby. Also the crossing at 5:40 is soon going to be ripped up to replace sleepers under the crossing. So at the moment speed restriction of 20km/h.. While sleepers are going in... New members are more then welcome to come join the lovly family that we have.
