TORONTO - Three different players had two-goal games as the Ryerson men's hockey team beat the Queen's Gaels 6-2 Thursday night at George Bell Arena.
Injured forwards Cory Konecny and Greg Payne made their second half debuts for the Rams [7-12-0] scoring two goals apiece. Matt Schmermund also contributed two tallies.

"Payne and Konecny bring a lot to this team," said Head Coach Graham Wise. "We missed them in the first half and they came through tonight in their first time back. Its great to have them back, it gives us depth on our team."

The Gaels [7-10-2] took an early lead off of a Daniel Mandel goal, but the Rams battled back hard, making it 2-1 before the end of a physical first period.

"I think Nipissing got away from us pretty quick and we could have handled it just by relaxing and getting our game together. That was big for us today and we bounced back with effort and that's how we got two points," said goaltender Louie George.

George made 27 saves on 29 shots to earn his third victory in four straight starts in place of injured starter Paul Gibson.

Domenic Cammalleri was another Ram who had a strong game, as he piled up four assists. Schmermund added two assists, while Konecny had one to go with their two goals. With an assist, right-wing Alex Sharpe extended his points streak to four games [2G 4A], while Andrew Buck's streak ends at three games.

Friday night Ryerson will watch the scoreboard, as Queen's takes on Toronto, ensuring that one of the two teams the Rams are chasing will get two points.

"We hope they go beat each other up," said George.

According to Wise, Gibson is close to returning, but may not be back for Saturday's game. Ryan Milanovic is still far from playing.

The Rams look to get some revenge for last weekend's loss as they host Nipissing at 2:00 pm on Saturday afternoon, at George Bell Arena.
