From: http://www.youtube.com/crybabiessuck just finished school about 2 months ago. I am currently working in a day spa. I like the fact that they furnish my supplies and I am starting to get some clients now. I dont like the fact that they have certain routines that they want used. I like to do my own thing and what may work for one therapist may not work for another.
I would agree that massage routines are great for learning a new technique but after that I believe that you should be able to follow your intuitions. We all develop these intuitions as we mature as therapists. The massage mills and even high end resorts that insist on following specific routines as only trying to assure guests of some form of continuity.

Update: I am no longer working for that dayspa. I went into business for myself (SCARY!!) I rent a room from a hairstylist in a salon. I get to make my own schedule and make my own decisions. Now I'm just working on promoting myself and getting clients coming in the door!

I received a massage once on my way back from Indiana. The lady in the airport started to massage my back and I felt these bumps under my skin that she gently massaged away. It freaked me out a little but I figured those bumps were stress related.
What are they? What chemical produces them?
