Great video. Perfect timing in the industry. To hear that Oracle actually understands database technologies but had no idea what else they purchased when buying Sun is what I figured.
Things that make no sense in tech usually are driven by profits. I hope Java lives for 30 more years.

If you think you're making a case for the free market, you're doing a terrible job! You think it's easy to take years of legal action when you're seriously ill? Wake up! Getting dumped from an insurance policy is rotten, regardless of whether or not it's legal. And it's way to late to switch to a new policy! If you'd get out of your head and listen to your heart, you'd know this.
BTW, the UK is a democracy. If the people were so unhappy with their health insurance, they'd be demanding change.

@OrlandoDFree Getting dumped from a valid contract is legal? If it is legal, then it is not fraud. Sounds like someone failed to read the terms of their contract. Otherwise, there is legal recourse if the insurer acted illegally. Failing that, you can always pick a better carrier. Choice are good.
But, when government provides insurance, there is no choice. And, no recourse.
Now, look at the people in the UK, NHS being denied care every day.
Better to have a choice, than not.

@RogerOnTheRight : Tell that to the people who were dumped by their health insurance company as soon as they got seriously ill. That's legalized fraud. But you won't notice that with your head stuck up some theory.
If you actually read the free-market theorist F. Hayek, he doesn't say the free market always works. He says it works when all the proper conditions are met.
Transcript of 47:00 "I hate JSF with a passion. [..] so, Microsoft had this thing called ASF, they go on a marketing campaign saying, "this is the greatest thing since sliced bread" [..] And if your answer is "that's stupid - there's a better way to do that", the press by and large can't parse your sentences. And so we did do JSF as basically a clone of Microsoft just because it was easier to explain to the press. And then it wouldn't die."

Wow! I'm Brazilian and I have absolutely no idea of what the hell is James talking about when he describes this amazing Brazilian Healthcare IT System. Yes, we do have universal healthcare, but it totally sucks! Not because it's a bad idea but mainly because of the lack of investment (aka money) and the huge corruption that's been consistently present within our governments, at all levels, throughout the years. It's hard to believe Brazil has accomplished such a state-of-the-art IT system.
