  • @barrygkx You are confused about the definition of "zero beat". Zero beat means that there is no tonal difference between two audio signals tuned together. If the two signals differ in freq, there is a "beating" sound that is the difference between the two. By matching two tones at 500 hz, for example, you will get no beating sound and thus, they are "zero beat". Tentec allows you to hear your own offset so you can then "zero beat" the guy's signal as you hear it. It's gives the same results.

  • @barrygkx Zerobeat is when the side tone you hear from your rig (when your in CW mode) is the same frequency ( tone/pitch) of the received signal. Hope this helps. 73

  • Hey.....first you tuned down about 700 cycles from the CW receive signal you heard. You then did not hear any tone. You said that is zero beat. Then you tuned in a CW signal, used the spot button to match the tones and then you said you are zero beat.

    Which one is zero beat, matched tones or no tone which is about 700 cycles down?
