Xanadu for the MSX2, ported by Sony. Badly.
This version of Xanadu is terrible. It looks like a direct port of the PC88 version, but with terribly scaled-down lower resolution graphics which, make the game ugly and nearly unplayable. The MSX version looks a lot better, and was actually published by Falcom. But, of course, the PC88 version is the best.
@LordKarnov42 Hehe no I have the original MSX1 cartridge, I bought it in the 80s ^^ Never played the MSX2 version myself.
In the MSX1 (Falcom) version you get a number of special "credits" when you first talk to the king and you get more every time you level up. Normal gold is only used for food and equipment.
Very strange there'd be such a fundamental difference between the ports. If you want I can make a video to show it ^^

@megamarsvin You do in every version, the one you played must have loaded a saved game. You only do it when you create your character though, the only way to build skills in-game is through collecting items [or getting better with specific weapons] --- also yeah, this is a terrible port. They tried to make it look exactly like the PC88 original... even though it had a higher resolution. The later MSX1 port by Falcom is a lot better looking.

@megamarsvin Hold on you can buy skills with gold in this version? That's very different from the MSX version I played.
