@mitchbeamish There is time capsule by looking at a cached version of the Joeys selection in 2009 on fourfourtwo "Joeys Selected For Canberra Camp". Many of the comments say the same thing.

@Johnpemail You are not wrong in your comment about the questionable selection practices of the 2008/09 Joeys Squad but I also think you over estimate the AFS.

@mitchbeamish You need a history lesson. In 2008 (for 1 year only), there was ONLY the AFS. There was NO VCL and the V-Elite of 2007 had been abandoned.
In regards the U17 Joeys. In 2008, in the Joeys squad of 22, 14 of the selected players were from the NSWIS and the Joey's coach was also Hd Coach of the NSWIS. There was an Australia-wide outcry that Joey's selection was prejudiced and non-representative of the available elite players.
