  • Ok, so spending hasn't changed much as a % of GDP since the 1950s. Are you then saying that such spending is somehow ok? I've got a newsflash for you: the '50s and '60s levels of spending practically bankrupted the dollar and brought in price control and double digit inflation, unemployment and interest rates. The fact that spending hasn't been lowered since then (even though the cold war ended), is not indicative of a sound economic system.

  • @trioxin428: I don't believe in taxes so I'm not sure where you are going with all of this. I'm just stating some myths that most people have about taxes and not advocating for them.

  • The military buget/defense it NOT 33% it is about 56%

  • Do you have a source for that number? I know the percentage is much higher because military spending does not account for actual war, interest on war, black opts, and veterans benefits. The website, War Resistance League has a similar number to yours but the number appear to be inflated and the sources are controversial. But you are right, the number is much higher. I just used the number from the CBO.

  • You get what you pay for.

Problem is few people understand what they are paying for.

  • Yea, this is a major problem. Unfortunately, the media has chosen sensationalism over informing people.

  • mandates that we subsidize war and the welfare for the rich is certainly something I'm opposed to. But, yeah, obviously it's a good thing if we can democratize the system, ie, allot "defense" spending to social issues, health care, education, etc. It's certainly the "less-worse" option.

  • are you still on here

  • Consider yourself lucky. In my country, Belgium, income tax is 50% for an average middle-class family. Plus 21, 99% VAT on consumer items. So for every 1000 euro's I earn, the government takes 780. That's not even counting inflation.

Someone once told me the government basically says : "Be good, pay your taxes and be glad we let you keep any of your money at all." In Belgium, that certainly seems true.

  • Taxation is theft no matter how much or little they take. It's always your life or money that's at stake.

  • The Income tax doesn't go to any of these things. The income tax pays the interest on the federal reserve money that is loaned to the government. Even Reagan who was a scum bag admitted to this. We need a national sales tax and abolish the fed.

  • 3.6% on education?

  • Excellent Video!

  • your a commie

  • @TheLeftLibertarian I do have some questions regarding taxes. 1) are you advocating the abolishment of taxes? 2) If so, how would public services like the police dept, fire dept, military, etc be funded?

  • @odysseus520 Why so hostile? Please lets be civil.

The fed only directly holds less than 10% of US gov debt. And it does pay a rebate. The statistics are publicly available. In fact if the gov did all their borrowing from the fed there would be no problem with interest, but they choose to borrow from the international money markets.
