Old Folks Roy Williams 1989
British trombonist par excellence Roy Williams who came to fame with the Alex Welsh band in the sixties is playing Old Folks
This was a trombone feature when was performing at the 1989 Bern Jazz Festival with the European All Stars.
Roy Williams trombone, Henri Chaix piano, Lino Patruno guitar, Roman Dylag bass and Gregor Beck drums.
Simply fabulous! Goes for the tune as well. The composer was Willard ROBISON (not Robinson). In my opinion this is his "best" composition. He played piano with, and arranged for, Paul Whiteman's Orchestra. Frank Ward

I used to live across the road from Roy Williams in the 80's at Nightingale Close in Luton.
A great performer with Alex Welsh, Terry Lightfoot and later, 5- a -slide.
It all seems such a long time ago.
Why cant we stay young forever !!
